Celebrated Thai restaurant TAAN is proud to announce its new seasonal menu, COOKSHOP, which offers a loving tribute to the long and entangled history of Thai cuisine and its Chinese roots.

Launching on March 21st, 2023, the menu showcases the true Thai flavours that have emerged from centuries of cross-cultural interaction between Thailand, China and the West.

 

 

“Throughout the last century, Chinese cooks and kitchen hands arrived in Thailand and brought with them their culinary traditions, which were then integrated into the local food culture,” TAAN Executive Chef Monthep “Thep” Kamolsilp explains.

“This resulted in a cuisine with Western-influenced Thai tastes cooked by Chinese people. It was this uniquely Thai culinary experience we wanted to explore.”

COOKSHOP showcases how Chinese and Thai cuisines have evolved over time. Traditional Chinese dishes are reimagined with Western flavours and techniques and then brought into Thailand, resulting in an exciting fusion of cultures that reflects Thailand’s cultural exchange with the world.

 

 

Chef Thep and his kitchen team have worked closely with independent local farmers to source the freshest and highest quality ingredients. Each dish has a story to tell, combining familiar flavours with unexpected twists that will tantalise the taste buds.
