Say Hello to TAAN, Bangkok’s First Thai Rooftop Restaurant

 

Renowned for its fine balance of sour, sweet, salty, bitter and spicy flavors, Thai food is undoubtedly one of the world’s most popular, and delicious, cuisines. But what exactly sets it apart from any other cuisine?

This burning question was the spark behind TAAN. In seeking answers, we chose to peel back all the layers and explore the ingredients that have been the basis for Thai cuisine for centuries. We traveled from province to province, tasting the dishes beloved of local communities, learning about the skills of local food artisans, and getting a glimpse into the local ways of life.

This is how we realized there’s so much about our own cuisine we don’t know or fully appreciate. So began many months of experimentation, seeking out the finest local produce and combining ingredients in ways that are respectful of the past but which also hint at exciting new directions for Thai cuisine.  

 

From the earliest brainstorming discussions to the final tweaking of the menu, the process has been an invigorating one for all involved. Through the sheer will and creativity of our skilled kitchen team, the dream project has become a reality.

Now we’re proud to introduce TAAN, Bangkok’s very first Thai rooftop restaurant. Following the concept of “Hyper-Local Innovative Thai Cuisine,” our restaurant honors the country’s food artisans and their unique ingredients.

TAAN hopes to connect Thailand’s independent farmers with a new generation of adventurous diners through a menu that spotlights locally grown seasonal rice, daily-caught fish, homemade seasonings and other high-quality ingredients.

Our kitchen, led by the experienced chef Monthep Kamolsilp, ensures every single dish TAAN serves is not only fresh and chemical-free, but bursting with creativity. While the flavors and ingredients are distinctly Thai, the execution is unlike any Thai food you’ve tried before.

At TAAN you can expect an innovative dining experience that challenges your perception of Thai food, all while while admiring 180-degree views of Bangkok on the 25th floor of Siam@Siam Design Hotel Bangkok.
